OWN INTERVIEW CONTENTS Vol.10 (Part 2) rkemishi & MU-TON

O MU-TON , how was it working with rkemishi ?

M: When I was making "Hazuki," finishing just 16 bars a day would make me feel exhausted. Something rkemishi said to me during that time really made an impression on me: "Even I write lyrics every day when I'm in creative mode, so if you get into the habit of writing every day, you'll be amazing." Since then, I've been writing every day, regardless of whether it's going to become a song or not. Now, I can write lyrics super quickly. Meeting RYKEY was also huge for me. For example, if a person has a potential of 10 , I'd only ever been able to produce about 3. But when I work with RYKEY , he automatically raises it to 10. His energy kind of makes me do it (laughs). Maybe it's because I've gotten used to that pace, but I've become able to write lyrics really quickly. Right now, rkemishi and I are working on a sequel to "Hazuki," and I think we'll be able to write something better and faster next time.

It goes without saying, but someone who writes lyrics every day can create something more amazing than someone who doesn't. Also, in my case, if I was going to work with someone, I wanted to work with a genius. That's true of GREEN ASSASSIN DOLLAR , and I think it's the same with MU-TON . I wanted to work with someone who had something that I definitely didn't have. What's also interesting is that my partner in FAT SLIDE , PEEDOG , was one year younger than me, and MU-TON is also one year younger than me, so maybe there's a connection between us being one year younger (laughs).

I also respect rkemishi 's lifestyle. He lives his life in a way that doesn't leave him with any free time. That's something I could never do, so I really respect him.

Aren't you scared of being bored? I'm the type of person who gets anxious when I have free time (laughs).

OBy the way, will this album be a unit album?

r ...I wonder. I'd like to ask the same question to YG and MOZZY (laughs).

M (laughs).

O The two of you are usually good friends.

I think it's normal to have tea or a meal together. But writing songs together is still a special relationship. In my case, I think DOGMA and Otoko are like that too. Isn't it the same with MU-TON and RYKEY ?

M : Ah, that may be true. We tend to become closer after we make a song than before.

O: I think there's a certain kind of relationship that can only be formed between two rappers. Now I want to talk about fashion. What kind of fashion did you two like?

When I was a kid, I liked Carhartt , ANDSUNS , BackChannel , LRG , etc.

M I was just about to say LRG too (laughs).

After that , I would go to RAWDRIP in Harajuku to look at and buy clothes. I also read magazines at the time, checking out " Ollie ," " 411 ," and " Samurai ."

O So you liked street brands. What about you, MU-TON ?

M I also checked out " Ollie " and " Samurai ". I still like street brands.

In my case, my old partner PEEDOG was fashionable even back then, so I guess I was naturally influenced by him. But I'm a contrarian, so I never thought about dressing like him. Now, I'm supported by brands I like, so I'm grateful for that.

So , what does eyewear mean to you two ?

I don't wear contact lenses at home, so I wear my prescription glasses every day. I often wear sunglasses at live shows too. It simply makes me feel less embarrassed.

Ah , I totally understand that.

I find them very useful because they make it harder for me to feel other people's gazes and I don't have to think about my own gaze. I also like colored glasses. I always thought the ones worn by Yosuke Kubozuka were super cool. However, I feel like I'm more likely to get stopped by the police when wearing colored glasses (lol). I prefer round shapes.

M I think the first thing that expresses who you are is your fashion or hairstyle. That's why I want to wear fashion that people will think is definitely MU-TON even when they see it from afar. That's the case with Lu Bu Karma, right? His appearance is so recognizable even from afar. I think fashion is an expression of how much of your inner self you can show on the outside. Also, I feel like I have more confidence when I'm wearing sunglasses or glasses that I think look cool. I definitely feel better wearing sunglasses that I think look cool, and it's great when they make you want to look cool.

Also, this is more of a stage costume thing, but if you put on sunglasses when you first go on stage and then take them off halfway through, you can create two different looks. Personally, I like wearing sunglasses on top of a knit cap. On the cover of "Hazuki," I'm wearing OWN 's #05 on my head.

M Good sunglasses definitely motivate you.

So what did you think of the launch of OWN ?

I thought it was amazing that he even started a company, and I was surprised because I had the impression that glasses are made by large companies. Also, there are a lot of people around me who make clothes, and I do a little bit myself, but I don't know anyone else who makes glasses. Especially recently, I've been surrounding myself with products made by acquaintances and friends, so I'm simply happy to be able to wear glasses made by a friend.

M OWN 's glasses and sunglasses are of course great, but I also felt a great deal of attention to detail in the logo and each case. It also has a street culture feel to it. I think it will become a standard item in five years' time.

What is it like actually using OWN ?

As I said before, I wear them every day. They're incredibly comfortable to wear. I was worried that they might be uncomfortable to wear (laughs). But when I actually tried them out, they fit well, and the brown tortoiseshell pattern gives them a luxurious feel that I really like. Also, I'd been using cheap glasses from a mass retailer until now, but when you have good glasses, you develop an affection for them. They make you feel like an adult, and you want to take good care of them.

M I chose #03 Yellow because I think my image colors are yellow and gold.

Ah , yes, I do imagine it as yellow.

I'm an M , so the moment I saw the yellow frames of #03 , I was immediately drawn to them. Also, I think it's common to hear, "This is clothing made by a friend of mine, isn't it cool?" But I also think there are only a limited number of people who can say, "These cool glasses are made by a friend of mine." That in itself is super exciting. Like sunglasses, I think necklaces and accessories are very important in fashion.

It 's something that you can use for a long time, and that you want to use for a long time. Also, I thought of PEEDOG as the title for the owls release party, so I decided on " OWN ." It's really a coincidence, but I feel a sympathy for that too. It doesn't feel like it's a stranger (laughs).

O That's true (laughs). So, what kind of fashion do you wear with OWN glasses / sunglasses?

I wear my prescription glasses at home, and I wear them with a Carhartt velour set. I also like to wear sunglasses on top of a knit cap .

M: When I wear something yellow, I want it to stand out the most. So when I wear these sunglasses, I try to wear dark clothing so that the sunglasses stand out.

Thank you for everything! Finally, please tell us what you each plan to do next.

This year I'm working on a solo album under the name rkemishi and the third album by owls . In fact, recording for both has already been completed.

The release pace is as fast as ever !

I'm hoping to release it at a good time . I'm also working on other projects, so I think I'll be able to release about three new works this year. I'm also planning to release another work with MU-TON , and I want to entertain everyone, so please continue to check out my work.

M You're working on a sequel to "Hazuki" with rkemishi , and you're also currently working on an album with RYKEY that's scheduled for release in the spring.

O Will that album be a joint album by RYKEY and MU-TON ?

I was just talking about this with RYKEY the other day. I've been chosen to be on a few songs for his next album, so the album I'm currently working on will be my second solo album. RYKEY is producing it , and I'm also planning on him participating in about half of the feat .

I think MU -TON 's second album is going to be amazing. The other day, I was recording at Kusari Studio for another reason. After the recording , there were some scribbled lyrics written by various rappers, so I was flipping through them. There was one lyric that I thought was damn awesome, so I asked Goddamn who wrote it, and he said, "That's MU- TON!" (laughs). The second album shows a side of MU-TON that hasn't been seen before, and it's finished in a way that makes you think he's got the guts to be a rapper. I'm looking forward to it too.

M I'm glad to hear that. I'll continue to ask rkemishi for his support, so I'd appreciate your continued support.
